Lot description
Carved glass and silver on the base, neck and stopper.
Daniel Philipp August Schleidssner (1825 - 1891) was a great admirer and expert of Renaissance, Baroque and Rococo, and as a result we can appreciate this pair of decanters. Schleidssner applied new silver manufacturing techniques to improve production and obtain more efficient pieces with highly detailed finishes. Under his direction the firm became a leading producer of old-style silverware from Hanau at the late 19th century.
