Signed and dated on the lower right.
The scene could represent an image of the famous "Regata Storica di Venezia", a celebration to welcome the wife of the King of Cyprus who resigned the throne in favour of Venice in 1489, but it could also be a fantasy depiction by the artist of the celebration of Ascension Day or some other decorated festivity.
The painting has been relined and has maintenance work on the paint layer.
Francesco Zanin was an Italian painter who became known for imitating the works by Canaletto during his lifetime.
