Lot description
In medium-density rotomoulded red polyethylene.
Designed in 1972 by Salvador Dalí together with Oscar Tusquets for the Mae West room at Teatre-Museu in Figueres. Salvador Dalí was inspired by the lips of the actress Mae West (New York, 1893 - Los Angeles, 1980). The artist first made a painting with the portrait of the artist titled "Face of Mae West which can be used as a surrealist flat".
Five sofas like this one were made during Dalí's lifetime. The original work was made of wood and satin and it is exhibited in Museu Dalí. The assembly of the space was carried out by Dalí with the help of Óscar Tusquets.
In 2004, thirty years after its original design, BD Barcelona Desing produced and distributed this iconic work.
73 x 170 x 100 cm.
