1982

The Beginning of Subarna

Located very close to Paseo de Gracia, Subarna initially collaborated with institutions like Monte de la Piedad under the name "SalaBarna". Monthly auctions began due to their success and because this sales model was rare in Spain.

1995

Weaving New Connections

Starting in the 1990s, Subarna began connecting with significant events in the art world. It was very common to see its presence at the Fira d'Antiquaris in Plaza España and later at Drassanes. Before the internet era, it was the perfect venue!

2000's

BVLGARI and Subarna

One of the milestones in the jewelry department occurred at the beginning of the new millennium. In an unprecedented collaboration, the renowned Roman jeweler Bvlgari put over 200 items from their Madrid store up for sale. More than 80% of the items were sold.

2002

Expansion

The first Subarna location at Provenza Street 257 became too small for auctions, which often reached 1,000 lots. At that point, Subarna expanded with a new location in the heart of the city's gallery district: Consell de Cent Street 295.

2009

Argullol Collection

This important Catalan family entrusted Subarna with the sale of significant pieces from their collection. In this case, the proceeds were donated to CARITAS, directed towards important social aid programs. Additionally, in this auction, a world record was set for a Nonell painting, reaching a final bid of €215,000.

2014

A Turning Point

In 2014, Subarna changed ownership, leading to an evolution within the company. It moved to a location of more than 600 square meters on a street off Paseo de Gracia, and thanks to a substantial influx of investment, it internationalized with new international platforms, allowing for new records.

2018

Growth within the Sector

With the recent new acquisition of Subarna, the executive team integrated new faces this year, full of experience in the auction sector. The new head of admissions is Vicente Climent Vivé, with more than 30 years of experience in the sector. With him, pieces never before imagined in the auction house will arrive.

2019

Great Sales, Great Trust

Thanks to the new team, the most important national and international names entered the auction. One of the house records for LLadró occurred with the sale of a large Venetian gondola, with a final bid of €26,000. Additionally, the painting department stood out with a work by Karl Giradet, sold for €75,000.

2021

The Picasso Museum Buys at Subarna

An important drawing from Pablo Picasso's early period was offered at auction with a starting price of €30,000. With national and international bidders, it reached €90,000, and by right of first refusal, it was purchased by the Government of Catalonia. Today, this work can be seen in the artist's namesake museum in the city.
Subarna is immensely proud!
